Journey of Hope: Fighting B-Cell Lymphoma with Dori

Posted on April 29 2024, By: Urban Dog

It was November 15th, 2023 when our beloved baby girl, Jidori, affectionately known as Dori, was diagnosed with this formidable foe. The news hit us like a freight train, but amidst the fear and uncertainty, there was a glimmer of hope – the cancer had not spread, and there was a treatment plan that offered promise: chemotherapy, specifically the CHOP protocol.

The journey ahead was daunting, but we were determined to do everything in our power to give Dori a fighting chance. The first step was to transition her to a high-protein diet, as we learned that cancer thrives on carbs. With the guidance of a supportive network – from fellow pet owners who shared research and blogs about treatments to a nutritionist who offered invaluable advice on food and supplements – we felt equipped to tackle the road ahead.

We were fortunate to have TrueCare Pets in Studio City, with one of the best oncologists in LA, guiding us every step of the way. Their expertise and reassurance gave us the confidence that Dori was receiving the best possible care. The journey was not without its challenges – from sleepless nights to the anxiety that accompanied each round of treatment, especially the administration of Doxorubicin. But through it all, we held onto hope.

And hope paid off. From the first treatment, Dori showed remarkable progress, achieving clinical remission. With each subsequent session, we saw her strength and spirit shine through. Finally, on April 25th, 2024, we completed the entire CHOP protocol, and Dori remains in remission. We pray for a long and fruitful remission, knowing that the road ahead may still have its twists and turns.

The CHOP protocol was not just physically demanding for Dori, but emotionally and financially draining for us as well. Yet, we were buoyed by the outpouring of support from family, friends, and even customers who purchased stickers and made donations to help save Dori's life. In gratitude for this incredible support, we've decided to pay it forward. Proceeds from the sale of leftover stickers will be donated to two missions close to our hearts.

To those who find themselves on a similar journey, battling this insidious disease alongside their furry companions, know that you are not alone. We've included links below to resources that provided us with guidance and comfort along the way. Together, we can find strength in community and hope in the face of adversity.

CHOP - Cyclophosphamide, Doxorubicin Hydrochloride, Vincristine sulfate, and Prednisone.
